The goal of the renovation of St. Richard’s Catholic Church was to create an inviting and spiritual path to the worship experience.  A lack of space on the existing 1985 altar platform was prohibiting the church from conducting their worship activities. In addition, their existing worship spaces, namely the chapel and the sanctuary, felt disconnected, even though they were adjoining spaces.

The design centered around transforming their worship spaces to enhance the parishioners experience, including:

  • enhance and differentiate the altar to make it a special, sacred place within the sanctuary
  • transform the music area to make it easier for the choir to hear each other, as well as the congregation to hear and be engaged
  • create a distinctive place for the tabernacle to be visible from inside both worship areas
