The MnDOT facility at Highway 55 and the Crosstown and the facility at France and 494 were replaced with the MnDOT Cedar Avenue ­Maintenance Facility that is located adjacent to the airport property at Cedar and the Crosstown. The facility is designed to reflect the visibility of the building from Highway 77, where the traffic drives past the facility while going to the airport and The Mall of America.

The Cedar Avenue Maintenance Facility reflects the needs of all the departments and ­support space.  Key areas include vehicle storage, repair bays, welding shop, conference and training rooms, wash bay, offices, underground hoist system, crane system, lockers, lunchroom, and various vehicle maintenance components.
