Robert “Fish” Jones built a 2/3 size replica of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s Cambridge, Massachusetts house in 1906. Designated as both a State and National Historical Landmark, it is the sole remaining building of the Longfellow Gardens and Zoo. The building had fallen into total disrepair, the result of a fire set by vagrants and a leaking roof. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board contracted Kodet Architectural Group, Ltd. to restore and renovate this historic building, as well as adapt it to accommodate the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1991 and oversee its relocation to a new site across the street.
