The City of Eden Prairie’s facilities were displaced by the construction of Highway 212. The City chose to renovate and expand an existing 66,000 s.f. structure and commissioned Kodet Architectural Group for both renovation and new work. The new facility consists of vehicle storage, offices, maintenance garage, shops, and a welding bay. Located on a restricted site, it maximizes the use and efficiency of the building and site, while adhering to strict local zoning criteria.
- Features include:
Shop areas directly off vehicle storage for efficient loading
Divisible lunchroom for smaller groups for staging, meetings, etc.
Drive through welding shop, central to maintenance garage, parks, and street repair
Large mezzanine for tire storage, bulk storage, training rooms
Bridge crane over all bays of mechanics garage
Offices located for ease of access to crews and public
On site fueling and recycling areas
Sustainable concepts: 90% of building is renovation of existing structure, use of local materials
