This shop used to be located on the main level of the Minneapolis Conservatory.  It was the first retail store that Doubleday Book Shops, Inc. had opened in the Twin Cities.  The design attracted both the lunchtime buyer, who needed fast service, and the casual browser, who enjoyed an aesthetically pleasing shopping environment.  Corrugated metal columns and diamond-shaped marble details in the floor marked the entry and caught the eye of passersby enticing them to enter.
