Kodet Architectural Group is in the beginning stages of planning and designing a Recreation Center addition for the City of Deadwood, South Dakota.

The Recreation Center addition will include a six lane, twenty-five meter, regulation-sized pool providing the City of Deadwood with the ability to hold competition swim meets, with a running track above overlooking the adjacent park. There are also plans for a climbing wall, expanded area for aerobics and weight training, as well as racquet ball courts.

Since 1964, the entire City of Deadwood has been named a National Historic Landmark. The Recreation Center Building is over 90-years old, therefore, utilizing the U.S. Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation will be an integral part of the design criteria for this project.

The addition is being designed to preserve the open park space nearby.
